There was a time when you could earn 5% a month from your stock portfolio. The key was to invest in the biggest, and best, blue-chip stocks so that you could receive a quarterly dividend. The price of the stock did not fluctuate too much, which was fine as long as the company kept paying a consistent dividend.
Unfortunately, in today's economic environment, even the best growth stock's have plunged in value taking your dreams of retirement with them. Many Americans are wondering where their 'bail-out' is. Personally, I am creating my own bail-out program, and so can you!
Bank CD interest rates are currently at between 2 - 3.5%. If you wanted to earn $1,000 a month from these types of investments (at an average of 2.75%), you would need more than $450,000 in the bank. To be honest with you, I have no idea if I will ever have that much money in the bank.
Instead, I make money writing articles for eHow, Bukisa, and Today dot com.
If you are looking to make serious passive income from your articles, then eHow is definitely the way to go. Their revenue sharing formula is top secret, but I really don't care. They pay me a lot of money each and every month on articles that I wrote 10 weeks ago. Some of the more prolific writers earn somewhere north of $2,000 per month just from eHow. This does not include any affiliate sales that they make via eHow. The potential is amazing!
If you are a beginner, or want guaranteed income from your blogs, then Today dot com is the best site for you. This site is free to join (as is all the sites I write for) and actually pays you $1 per post AND $2 per thousand page views thereafter. If you are good at getting traffic, you can quickly earn money writing articles. This site is fast becoming one of my favorite passive income streams.
If you live outside of the US, Bukisa may be perfect for you. Here you can publish all types of content, from pictures to articles to videos. Bukisa pays you per thousand page views and is based upon the index displayed on the front page. Currently, they are paying $3.95 per thousand page views. If you already have an established blog or website, simply linking to your Bukisa articles will result in enough traffic to earn additional income online.
If you are trying to make money writing articles, I can think of no better place to start than these three sites. Drop me a comment and tell me what you think!

Today dot com - Make Money Writing Articles
While surfing the eHow forums tonight, I ran across another way to make money writing articles. I had heard of it before, but I usually like to let others take the plunge first and see how it works out. So far, I am hearing nothing but good things so I decided to join!
Today.com is an online blogging community of people who are trying to make money writing articles. I know what you are thinking, 'I have my own blog already'. I agree... so do I. But do you actually make any money from it? Are you guaranteed to make any money at all for all of your hard work? At Today.com you are!
Today.com pays you $1 per post plus a small residual amount based upon page views. In order to have your post counted, it must be at least 100 words and relate to the topic that you chose when you set up your blog. I do not know about you, but I can write 100 words in almost no time at all.
Additionally, bloggers can earn money through referrals. For every person that signs up through your referral link you earn an additional $5. To be counted as a qualified referral, that person must have at least 10 approved posts. If you are interested, please sign up HERE!
I must admit that I am getting excited about my various streams of passive income. Why don't you join me over at Today.com and start making a few bucks as well.

Writing for eHow - Earn Money Writing Articles
When I first found eHow, I was not sure what to think. Here was a website where I would publish my work and they would give me a portion of the income generated by it. What's up with that? Why would I bust my butt, crafting a quality article, only to receive a portion of the income. Heck, why not create my own website and take ALL of the income.
To start with, eHow has a page rank of 6. This fact alone means that they will receive more traffic from Google and Yahoo than I could ever dream about. In the online world, traffic means one thing - MONEY. The more traffic you receive, the more income you can potentially earn. Since my focus is to earn money writing articles, and not creating websites, I started taking a harder look at eHow. In fact, eHow gets about 9.4 million visitors each month. I could never create a website that received that much traffic.
Since I was not entirely sure how eHow would live up to my expectations, I only wrote 10 articles in September, earning a whopping $4.52. Encouraged by this limited success, I wrote 15 articles in October, earning $18.40. YES!!!!
In November, I wrote another 11 articles, yielding an amazing $31.90. I hope that you can see the trend that has developed. Theoretically, I could stop writing articles today and I would continue to earn money forever. This is the beauty when you earn money writing articles on eHow. I can only hope that you are getting excited about creating passive income streams. I know that I am!
You can shortcut your learning curve by buying this amazing eBook. You will glad that you did. I am positive my earnings would not be nearly as good without the useful tips found within its pages.

Earn Money Writing for eHow
Over the course of the past six months, I have been searching for a way to earn some extra money online. I have literally tried 20 different methods, all with little to no success. What most internet gurus fail to tell you is that in order to make money online, you need to be somewhat technological savvy. Let's face it, unless you have a background in IT, you actually start a few steps behind even before you begin.
A few months ago, I stumbled across a method of generating passive income that did not require any IT experience at all. All that was required was the ability and desire to share what I know. And thus, my eHow experiment began.
eHow is a website in which members publish short "how-to" articles. These articles can be about anything that you want. The writing interface is extremely easy to use. I can normally knock out an article in 20 to 30 minutes, including research. What makes eHow exciting, however, is that they actually share the revenue generated by your articles with you. Let me repeat that! You earn money writing for eHow.
I have read about writers earning in excess of $1,000 per month. While I am a LONG LONG way away from this amount, I am starting to see an increase in my daily eHow earnings, and this truly inspires me to work a bit harder.
When I started writing for eHow, I truly did not know what I was doing. I had no previous experience with SEO, keyword density, and that jazz. As such, I made about as many mistakes as you possibly could. Luckily I found help in the form of an amazing eBook. This eBook really simplified things for me. It outlined what I should be doing to increase the likelihood that my articles would make money.
After implementing a few minor, and a couple of major, changes to my articles, I began to see a slight trickle of income accruing in my account. Within 2 months, I had actually earned enough to actually get paid. Please realize that the payout threshold for eHow is only $10, but I had never made much money online before. When you earn money writing articles, it feels so good.
Why don't you join me and make money writing articles on eHow!
